The Philadelphia medical examiner’s office reported in 2020 that there were over 1200 drug overdose deaths in Philadelphia. While those statistics in themselves are staggering, what was especially troubling was the impact on the African-American community.
In 2020 the number of overdose deaths amongst African-American rose 29%.
